Home Affairs Ministry Involves Academics and Media to Validate Regional Financial Management Index Results

The Ministry of Home Affairs’ Domestic Strategy Policy Agency (BSKDN) is involving academics, experts, and the media in validating the results of the 2024 Regional Financial Management Index (IPKD) measurement. The initiative is intended to strengthen objectivity, transparency, and accountability in assessing the financial performance of regional governments across Indonesia.

Head of BSKDN Yusharto Huntoyungo stated that the IPKD measurement is a crucial instrument for mapping the quality of regional financial management and promoting improved governance. He emphasised that the validation stage is critical to ensure the results accurately reflect actual conditions in the regions.

“The implementation of validation involving academics, experts, and the media is a commitment by the Ministry of Home Affairs to deliver a more independent, transparent, and accountable measurement and assessment process,” Yusharto said during the online launch of the validation activity on Thursday (18/6/2026).

He noted that the involvement of external parties follows the minister’s directive for all regional performance evaluations and measurements to be conducted professionally and with a high degree of credibility. Consequently, the IPKD results are intended not only as an assessment tool but also as a basis for formulating policies to improve regional financial management.

Yusharto explained that this year’s validation adopts a regional island-based approach, aligning with the ministry’s appreciation mechanism. The regions include Sumatra, Java-Bali, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara-Maluku-North Maluku, and Papua. “This regional approach is expected to encourage healthy competition among regions while providing a more proportional space for regions to showcase their best achievements in regional financial management,” he asserted.
