Wamena (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) of the Republic of Indonesia confirms that the tender process for the development of the Mountainous Papua Core Government Administration Area (KIPP Papua Pegunungan) is scheduled to take place in June 2026.

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk and Deputy Minister of Public Works (PU) Diana Kusumastuti, accompanied by the Governor of Highlands Papua John Tabo, inspected the KIPP site at Gunung Susu, Hubikosi District, Jayawijaya Regency, Highlands Papua.

In Wamena on Saturday, Haluk said that the development stage of KIPP Papua Pegunungan has now entered the detailed engineering design (DED) process, comprising working drawings (specifications), technical specifications, structural calculations and the bill of quantities (RAB).

“DED will be the main guide for the construction contractor, and the next stage is the tender for the construction of KIPP Papua Pegunungan, which is planned to take place in June 2026,” she said.

She added that the DED also converts the basic concept into a precise plan to minimise the risk of errors, cost efficiency and compliance with standards.

“The DED preparation process is done after the feasibility study and preliminary design are completed and is usually prepared by the Highlands Papua Public Works and Public Housing Office (PUPR) through engineering planning/consultancy services,” she said.

She explained that they are also continuing to strengthen coordination with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing RI to optimally push the development of KIPP in the four new autonomous regions or DOB of the Papua land.

“From the central government, we target all four KIPP projects in the Papua lands to be completed by 2028 and inaugurated by the President of Indonesia, Mr. Prabowo Subianto. And we have included the development of KIPP in the four DOB in the Papua under the National Strategic Project (PSN),” she said.

She added that progress on KIPP in South Papua has been completed and has been in operation since 5 January 2026; KIPP Papua Barat Daya development continues under a multi-year contract for Fiscal Year 2026 with 90 percent physical progress. KIPP Papua Tengah is in the early stage with groundbreaking on 29 December 2025 and initial progress of 3.21 percent, while KIPP Papua Pegunungan has entered the DED stage and the tender will take place in June 2026.

“We invite Deputy Minister of Public Works to directly view the KIPP Papua Pegunungan site in Wamena, so that the ongoing stages can be accelerated and the target of accelerated development can be implemented properly,” she said.

Initial development at KIPP Papua Pegunungan will prioritise the governor’s office, the Papua People’s Assembly (MRP) and the Papua Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRP) offices.
