Home Affairs Minister Witnesses Signing of Cooperation Agreement to Accelerate Waste-to-Energy Development between Danantara and Jakarta Provincial Government
Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian witnessed the signing of a joint agreement between the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and Danantara for the acceleration of Waste-to-Electricity Processing (PSEL) development in Jakarta.
The signing took place at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs in Jakarta on Monday (4/5/2026).
The signing was conducted by the Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Environmental Agency, Dudi Gardesi Asikin, and the Director of Investment at PT Danantara Investment Management, Fadli Rahman.
In addition to the Home Affairs Minister, the signing was also witnessed by Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Yuliot Tanjung, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, and other related officials.
He also expressed thanks to Home Affairs Minister Tito for continuously supporting waste management into energy programmes in the regions.
“Jakarta today proves that the directive is not just numbers but real action. I appreciate the real commitment from Jakarta Governor Mas Pramono Anung,” he stated in his press release on Monday (4/5/2026).
With this cooperation, the waste piling up in Jakarta residents’ homes will be converted into electricity that powers the city.
“That is the promise we sign today together in the presence of the gentlemen,” he explained.
Several regions include Yogyakarta, Lampung, Serang, Semarang, Surabaya, Bekasi, Medan, Tangerang, Palembang, and Greater Bogor.
“Then the new ones to be prepared are four more: Pekalongan, Greater Tegal, Batang Regency, and Karawang Regency,” he clarified.
