Home Affairs Minister urges IPDN graduates to become agents of change for bureaucratic reform
Home Affairs Minister (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian has asked the praja of the Institute of Home Affairs Governance (IPDN) who will soon be inaugurated as state civil apparatus (ASN) to become agents of change to strengthen bureaucratic reform within the government.
Tito Karnavian, during a visit to Sumedang, West Java, on Wednesday, said IPDN graduates have a true responsibility because they are specifically prepared to strengthen governance down to the regional level.
“One of the institutions that produces direct entry to the first line supervisor level is IPDN graduates. IPDN graduates are highly expected to influence their fellow ASN to be able to run an effective, efficient, clean government, and clear governance,” he said.
Tito said IPDN graduates are expected to become the driving force of a bureaucracy with integrity while promoting a work culture oriented towards public service.
According to Tito, IPDN not only equips praja with governance knowledge but also shapes character through physical, mental, discipline, integrity, and health education, as well as ideological strengthening so they are ready to carry out their duties as public servants.
“One of the requirements for a country to survive more than 200 years is having an effective and efficient state civil apparatus. IPDN is one of the crucibles that specifically educates in the science of governance,” he said.
He said the apparatus needs to be required to continuously update their knowledge and improve their abilities in order to produce innovation.
“I ask that you never stop learning. Keep pursuing knowledge as long as you are able to think. With broader knowledge, there will be more choices and perspectives to produce innovation,” he said.
Tito hopes the praja who will soon be inaugurated can become examples for other ASN in building a professional, clean, and effective bureaucracy, so as to support the realisation of a higher quality government and optimal public service.
