Home Affairs Minister Tito Urges PIKI to Play Strategic Role in Achieving Golden Indonesia 2045
Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian has called on the Indonesian Christian Intellectuals’ Union (PIKI) to play a strategic role in achieving Golden Indonesia 2045.
He stated that the intellectual community bears a significant responsibility to generate ideas and solutions that can optimise the nation’s potential.
The remarks were made during the handover and inauguration ceremony of PIKI’s Central Leadership Council (DPP) for the 2026-2031 term at Paulus Church in Jakarta on Saturday, 30 May 2026.
In his speech, Tito expressed optimism that Indonesia could become a developed nation by 2045.
Optimism is based on several strengths Indonesia possesses, including abundant natural resources, a large population, and strategic geographic location.
“I am confident this can happen,” Tito said in a press release received by Kompas.com on Sunday, 31 May 2026.
According to Tito, the projection is not merely a slogan but supported by various factors that strengthen Indonesia compared to many other countries.
He noted that few countries in the world have a combination of abundant natural resources, a large workforce, and vast territory. Indonesia is one of the nations possessing all three assets.
Furthermore, Indonesia is situated along a strategic international trade route.
This geographic position presents a significant advantage that must be optimally utilised to drive national economic growth.
Therefore, he hopes the intellectual community, including PIKI, can contribute through ideas and innovations that accelerate national progress.
“This is the task of thinkers, scholars, and intellectuals,” Tito said.
He added that the contribution of intellectual groups is determined not by quantity but by the quality of ideas and their impact.
Tito cited several countries with relatively small populations that have exerted significant global influence due to the quality of their human resources.
