Home Affairs Minister Tito Targets Krueng Tingkeum Bridge in Bireuen for Completion by July 2026
Jakarta, VIVA – The Head of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction for Sumatra, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, has announced that construction of the Krueng Tingkeum Bridge in Kuta Blang District, Bireuen Regency, Aceh, is expected to be completed by July 2026.
According to Tito, after the bridge was previously severed and a temporary bailey bridge was erected, the government is now preparing a permanent structure. The bridge represents welcome news for the people of Aceh as it will improve residents' mobility and serve as a key link on the Medan–Banda Aceh route.
"We are currently at the riverbank, at Krueng Tingkeum, at the Kuta Blang bridge. Construction progress stands at 18 per cent," Tito said in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday, 22 February 2026.
The Home Affairs Minister also expressed his gratitude to Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo and his team for their hard work. "This is the team from Public Works Minister Mas Dody, and they have done extraordinary work. Thank you very much. Hopefully it will be completed soon, God willing," he said.
During the inspection, Tito was accompanied by Aceh Deputy Governor Fadhlullah, Bireuen Regent Mukhlis, and Director General of Regional Administration at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Safrizal.
