Home Affairs Minister Tito Expresses Deep Condolences Over Ryamizard Ryacudu's Death
Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian has expressed deep condolences over the death of former Defence Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu. Tito visited the late minister’s residence in the Puri Wira Bhakti complex, Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, on Sunday, 31 May 2026, to offer condolences to Ryacudu’s wife, Nora Tristyana, and the bereaved family. Ryamizard Ryacudu died at the age of 76 at the Army Central Hospital (RSPAD) Gatot Soebroto in Jakarta at 14:03 WIB. ‘Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. We are all mourning. Personally, along with my family and the Ministry of Home Affairs, I extend our deepest sympathies for the passing of the late General TNI Ryamizard Ryacudu,’ Tito said in a statement on Sunday, 31 May 2026. ‘I knew the late minister well as a senior and held him in high regard,’ he added. Tito stated that Ryacudu was a respected figure with close ties to various communities, particularly in southern Sumatra. ‘He was one of the elders of southern Sumatra, including South Sumatra and Lampung. I am from Palembang, South Sumatra, so I often visited him, not only for official matters but also for local affairs in southern Sumatra,’ Tito said. The Home Affairs Minister considered Ryacudu’s passing a significant loss for his family, friends, and all who knew and worked with him. He therefore called on the public to pray for the late minister to receive forgiveness and a place of honour with Allah SWT, and for his family to be granted strength and resilience. ‘Let us pray that Allah SWT forgives all the sins of the late minister during his lifetime. May He ease his journey to the hereafter, expand his grave, and grant him a resting place as beautiful as a garden in paradise, for death is Allah SWT’s decree which we cannot avoid,’ he said.
