Home Affairs Minister Reveals Budget Efficiency Does Not Disrupt Ministry Performance

Home Affairs Minister (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian has stated that the budget efficiency policy for the implementation of the 2025 State Budget (APBN) has not disrupted the performance of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri). This is reflected in the ministry’s budget realisation, which reached Rp3.76 trillion, or 99.46 percent of the effective ceiling of Rp3.79 trillion. According to Tito, this achievement is one of the highest among ministries and agencies. He conveyed this during a working meeting with Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (16/7). Tito explained that the ministry’s initial budget ceiling for 2025 was Rp4.79 trillion. However, following the government’s spending efficiency policy, the budget was cut to Rp2.61 trillion. Through a budget relaxation from the Ministry of Finance, the effective ceiling was later increased to Rp3.79 trillion. The additional budget was used to support several strategic programmes, including strengthening the information technology infrastructure of the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Ditjen Dukcapil), fulfilling mandatory spending and priority activities, supporting the Information System of Regional Government (SIPD), and funding education at the Institute of Home Affairs Governance (IPDN). On the revenue side, the ministry recorded Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) of Rp1.22 trillion, or 225.30 percent of the target. Tito noted that the ministry also maintained an Unqualified Opinion (WTP) from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) for its financial reports, marking the 12th consecutive year since 2014. Furthermore, the ministry achieved a budget performance score of 94.69, categorised as very good, and a government agency performance accountability evaluation score of 78.91 with a very good predicate. The bureaucratic reform index reached 91.01, placing it in the A category. The meeting was attended by Commission II leaders, the Head of the Elections Organiser Honorary Council (DKPP) Heddy Lugito, the Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) Basuki Hadimuljono, and officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the National Border Management Agency (BNPP).
