Home Affairs Minister: Ramadan a moment for introspection and self-improvement
I have only one wish for you all,’ the Minister of Home Affairs said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday, ‘and I hope that during this holy month of Ramadan we will all truly use it to improve and introspect ourselves.’ This was conveyed by the Minister at a breaking-of-the-fast gathering with all staff at the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri).
The Minister also expressed gratitude for the blessings given by God Almighty. In Ramadan, all staff can still perform worship with reverence and in good health. In addition, he noted that the Ministry has a very large role as the guardian and supervisor of local government. Furthermore, the Ministry also has the task of accelerating reconstruction and rehabilitation after disasters in Sumatra, and coordinating efforts to manage regional inflation on a routine basis.
These tasks require coordination and strong solidarity among staff. If all staff in carrying out these duties uphold integrity, the Minister believes every job undertaken will be blessed.
As head of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the National Border Management Agency (BNPP), the Minister hopes that the staff can strengthen their faith to the fullest. He urged all parties to seize the Ramadan moment as an opportunity to increase their good deeds.
“I pray, and may we all receive blessings from Allah SWT as we carry out our duties,” he said.
During the event, the Minister, together with his colleagues, handed over aid to orphans and several staff in need.
Attending the event were Tri Tito Karnavian, General Chair of TP PKK; Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto; Deputy Minister Akhmad Wiyagus; TP PKK Expert Staff for Strengthening Family Food Security Yane Bima Arya; and senior and mid-level officials within the Ministry of Home Affairs.
