Home Affairs Minister: Krueng Tingkeum Bridge in Bireuen Expected to Be Completed by July 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, in his capacity as Head of the Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force for Sumatra, has announced that construction of the Krueng Tingkeum Bridge in Kuta Blang subdistrict, Bireuen regency, Aceh, is expected to be completed by July 2026.
"We are currently at the riverbank, at Krueng Tingkeum, at the Kuta Blang bridge. We can see that construction has reached 18 per cent progress," Tito said in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday.
After the bridge was severed and a temporary bailey bridge was erected, the government is now preparing a permanent replacement structure.
The bridge is welcome news for the people of Aceh, as it will facilitate the movement of residents and serve as a connecting route between Medan and Banda Aceh.
The Home Affairs Minister also expressed his gratitude to Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo and his team for their hard work.
"This is the team from Public Works Minister Dody — they have done extraordinary work. Thank you very much. Hopefully it will be completed quickly, God willing," he said.
During the inspection, Tito was accompanied by Aceh Deputy Governor Fadhlullah, Bireuen Regent Mukhlis, and Director General of Regional Administration at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Safrizal.
