Home Affairs Minister calls on PIKI to support realisation of Golden Indonesia 2045

Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian has called on the Indonesian Christian Intellectuals Association (PIKI) to play a strategic role in achieving Golden Indonesia 2045. ‘I am confident this can happen,’ he said. His remarks were made during the handover and inauguration of PIKI’s 2026-2031 Central Leadership Council at Paulus Church in Jakarta on Saturday (30 May). He cited Indonesia’s natural resource wealth, large population, and strategic geographical location as key advantages. International institutions project Indonesia could become a developed nation by 2045, supported by factors that strengthen its position compared to other countries. Additionally, Indonesia’s strategic position along international trade routes offers significant opportunities for economic growth. However, he stressed that these potentials would not maximise benefits without quality human resources. Tito urged intellectuals, including PIKI, to contribute through ideas, innovation, and solutions to accelerate national progress. ‘This is the task of thinkers, scholars, and intellectuals,’ he said. ‘We hope PIKI, with its intellectual capabilities, will contribute to Indonesia’s progress,’ he added. Attendees included Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar, Housing and Settlement Minister and PIKI Chairperson Maruarar Sirait, Government Communication Chief Muhammad Qodari, and other officials.
