The government has disbursed the first phase of social assistance (bansos) to communities affected by the disaster in three provinces: Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. The distribution was carried out by the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian, who serves as Chair of the Sumatra Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) Task Force, together with the Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul). The aid package represents the government’s commitment to accelerating the recovery of livelihoods in the aftermath of the disaster.

The total aid distributed in the first phase reached Rp 878,681,800,000, comprising housing completion assistance (BIH), social-economic stimulus assistance (BSSE), and a living allowance (jadup) for affected communities. In addition, jadup was distributed to 248,588 beneficiaries (PM) at Rp 450,000 per month for three months. Therefore, the total jadup budget stands at Rp 335,593,800,000. All the aid was distributed through PT Pos Indonesia.

“There will be another wave of assistance,” Tito said in a press release received by Kompas.com, Saturday (7 March 2026). He made the statement while closing the Khanduri Nuzulul Quran Aceh Ramadhan Festival 2026 at the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque complex in Banda Aceh, Aceh, Friday (6 March 2026).
