With the recitation of Bismillahirrahmanirrahim and seeking blessings from Almighty God, the launch of the House Renovation (Bedah Rumah BSPS) programme for five provinces — West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, North Maluku, Maluku, and Bali — was officially announced, according to Tito Karnavian in a written statement, on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.

Before the launch, Tito and his entourage directly inspected one of the homes of BSPS House Renovation programme recipients in Desa Dasan Geria, West Lombok. The house appeared in a worrying state, with wattle-and-daub walls, an earthen floor, and a leaky roof that was almost collapsing.

He said the government aims to renovate up to 400,000 houses through similar programmes this year. He added that they had also seen directly several other homes in more dire condition in various regions, including the Siau Tagulandang Biaro (Sitaro) Islands, North Sulawesi.

Therefore, the Minister of Home Affairs together with the Minister for Public Works and Public Housing will continue touring across provinces not yet visited to ensure the programme runs optimally, including in NTT, Maluku, North Maluku, and other areas that require attention.

“Grateful to God Almighty, because this site was identified by the minister’s team, Mr. Ara Sirait, making it one of the targets for renovation; and there is even a bonus because usually only the Housing Minister and I come. This time there were three governors, plus the NTB Governor Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, so four governors,” he said.

Tito hopes that the programme coordinated by the Ministry for Public Works and Public Housing can run on schedule and deliver tangible benefits to people in need of decent housing. The central and regional governments’ collaboration on the programme should be strengthened so that the acceleration of addressing substandard housing can proceed to the maximum.

“May God Almighty grant blessings and grace to the President, and to Mr Ara Sirait, the governors, the Governor of NTT, NTB, Maluku, and the Governor of North Maluku, as well as to the female governors and the regents, and our DPR (Regional House of Representatives) members who joined,” he concluded.

In addition, the event was attended by NTB Governor Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, NTT Governor Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena, Maluku Governor Hendrik Lewerissa, Maluku Utara Governor Sherly Tjoanda, and the leadership of the Forkopimda in NTB.
