Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi has urged holidaymakers to avoid the peak return traffic for Eid 2026, which is expected on 24, 28, and 29 March 2026. This advice was given during his inspection of traffic flow on H+1 Eid 2026 at the Jasamarga Tollroad Command Center (JMTC) on Sunday (22/3). During that period, vehicle volume is projected to exceed 285,000 units, higher than the outbound peak on 18 March 2026, which saw 270,315 vehicles. “Therefore, we urge the public to return to Jabotabek on 23 March 2026 by utilising the joint leave,” the Minister stated in an official remark quoted on Monday (23/3). Dudy also advised holidaymakers to choose alternative dates, namely 25-27 March 2026, for the return journey by taking advantage of the work-from-anywhere period as recommended by the government. The Minister reminded that avoiding the peak return flow would distribute traffic more evenly, allowing the public to enjoy a more comfortable travel experience and avoid potential congestion during the return. In agreement with the Minister, Korlantas Polri Chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho separately stated that there would be three peak return periods to avoid. The first peak is on 24 March 2026, and the second and third on 28 and 29 March 2026. “We urge the public to avoid those peak return times so that the return flow services run safely, comfortably, and securely,” Agus said. Meanwhile, PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk President Director Rivan A. Purwantono requested cooperation from road users to utilise return times following government guidance by planning better journeys. “We request and ask all members of the public planning to return home to choose return times as recommended by the government,” he said. His side also reminded holidaymakers to take advantage of a 30% toll discount during the Eid 2026 return period for two days, namely 26-27 March 2026, on nine Jasa Marga Group toll roads for continuous journeys. The aim is to control the distribution of return traffic volume and provide more comfortable travel to the public. To ensure readiness for return flow services on Jasa Marga Group toll roads, Jasa Marga is strengthening services on several main toll roads by optimising toll gate operations, preparing toll road service fleets, conducting situational traffic management, and ensuring field officers’ readiness 24 hours a day. Optimisation of technology through the Jasamarga Tollroad Command Center (JMTC) continues to monitor real-time traffic conditions and support quick and accurate decision-making, supported by information dissemination via the Travoy app, Call Center 133, and Travoy FM Radio to help road users plan journeys better. Additionally, drivers of vehicles with three or more axles are urged to comply with the Joint Decree (SKB) of the Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, Korlantas Polri, and Director General of Highway Development of the Ministry of Public Works dated 5 February 2026 on Traffic Regulation and Crossing During the Eid 2026/1447H Outbound and Return Flow Period. This regulation concerns restrictions on goods vehicle operations, including not passing during specified times, namely from 13-29 March 2026 (H-3).
