JAKARTA - The Head of the Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police (Kakorlantas Polri), Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, has advised holiday returnees to utilise the work-from-anywhere (WFA) policy to arrange their return trip schedules for the 2026 Eid al-Fitr period in order to avoid congestion. “Holiday returnees are also advised to take advantage of the work-from-anywhere (WFA) policy by scheduling their return journeys from 26 to 28 March 2026,” said Agus in his statement on Sunday (22/3/2026). Agus stated that the peak of the return flow is expected to occur on 24 March 2026. However, the return flow is predicted to be divided into two phases, namely 23-24 March and 28-29 March 2026. To anticipate the surge in vehicles, the National Police Traffic Corps has prepared several strategic measures starting from 22 to 23 March 2026, including the possible implementation of phased local one-way systems. In addition, the Traffic Corps will implement a national one-way system starting from 24 March 2026, in line with directives from the National Police Chief and the results of coordination with various stakeholders. Based on monitoring results, Agus noted that traffic conditions during the mudik period and post-Eid remain relatively controlled, although there has been an increase in vehicle volume in several regions. “On the ninth day of Operation Ketupat or two days after Eid, traffic conditions are still quite controlled. There is an increase in flow in line with predictions and technology monitoring results. Urban agglomeration movements are monitored as quite dense but can still be managed well,” said Agus. In addition, surges have also occurred in several tourist destinations in Bali, Greater Malang, Jakarta, and West Java. According to Agus, the high mobility is still manageable well due to synergy between the National Police and various stakeholders.
