REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Head of the National Traffic Police Corps (Kakorlantas) Polri, Irjen Pol Agus Suryonugroho, has urged holiday returnees to avoid the peak reverse flow on 24 March 2026. This appeal was made to prevent vehicle build-ups during that period.

He explained that the results of analysis and evaluation show that this year’s reverse flow is likely to be divided into two phases. The first phase is estimated to occur on 23-24 March, while the second phase will be on 28-29 March.

“We urge the public, especially our colleagues who are currently in their hometowns, since the peak reverse flow is on the 24th, to not return on that date to avoid congestion,” he said during a press conference at the National Traffic Management Centre (NTMC) Polri office in Jakarta on Sunday (22/3/2026).

He assessed that managing travel times is key to alleviating density. Holiday returnees are encouraged to utilise time flexibility so that the distribution of vehicle flow is more even.

He also encouraged the public to take advantage of the work from anywhere (WFA) policy to arrange return travel times. The option to return on 26 to 28 March is considered able to help reduce the traffic burden during the peak flow.

“Please utilise work from anywhere on 26, 27, 28 March. The public can return on the 26th or 27th,” said this two-star general.

He stated that traffic conditions on the ninth day of Operation Ketupat, or two days after Eid al-Fitr, are still monitored as under control. Increases in flow are starting to be seen in several agglomeration areas and tourist spots.
