Holiday Allowance Tax Deductions for Non-Permanent Staff Cut by Millions of Rupiah, Pramono Claims Compliance with Regulations
Jakarta, Kompas.com - Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung has responded to complaints from several non-permanent contracted staff (Penyedia Jasa Lainnya Perorangan, PJLP) regarding tax deductions on holiday allowances (Tunjangan Hari Raya, THR) that amount to millions of rupiah.
Pramono stated that the amount of the deductions complies with regulations.
“Matters relating to taxation, the DKI Government will not levy taxes outside the regulations that have been set by the central government,” Pramono said when met at Blok M, South Jakarta, on Thursday (12 March 2026).
Pramono explained that every tax levy imposed on workers, including PJLP staff, refers to regulations established by the central government.
“So whatever will be levied, I am not answering the amount, but whatever is levied must be based on regulations already issued by the central government,” Pramono said.
Previously, several PJLP workers reported being shocked when they discovered that the amount of THR they received in their accounts had decreased significantly due to tax deductions.
One PJLP worker, Romudin (not his real name), said he was surprised when he saw the amount of THR that entered his account on Tuesday (10 March 2026).
“I received a total deduction of 1.9 million rupiah, I was very shocked when it came yesterday,” Romudin said.
According to him, in previous years there were indeed tax deductions, but the amount was not as large as now.
“Only hundreds of thousands,” he added.
Another complaint was also raised by Nina (not her real name), who said her THR was deducted by up to 1.5 million rupiah.
“For me it was deducted by 1.5 million rupiah,” Nina said.
She compared it with the deduction from the previous year, which she said was much smaller.
“There should not be many deductions this year. What is certain is that last year it was still around 500,000 rupiah,” she said.
