After being anticipated and causing concern amongst the civil service workforce, the North Tapanuli Regency Government in North Sumatra finally realised the Holiday Allowance (THR) payments on Tuesday, 17 March.

A total of 7,351 civil servants in the North Tapanuli Regency administration were recorded as THR recipients this year, with the total budget reaching Rp30,472,275,098.

The disbursement of the allowance in this region came under scrutiny as it was considered slower than several neighbouring regencies. This situation caused some civil servants to worry that their entitlements would not be realised promptly ahead of Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

A civil servant employed at one of the junior secondary schools in North Tapanuli Regency reported that as of Tuesday morning at 08:58 Western Indonesian Time, they had not yet received the THR. They expressed hope that the disbursement would be conducted quickly to help meet family expenses ahead of Eid.

Similar hopes were conveyed by a healthcare worker at Tarutung General Hospital. They stated that the THR was sorely needed to support family requirements during the extended Eid holiday period.

“I have even pawned my savings certificate to cover my child’s schooling fees. This THR is what we are counting on to cover our expenses during the holiday and after Eid,” they said.

In response, Josua Hutabarat, Head of the Regional Finance and Asset Agency (BKAD) of North Tapanuli, assured that the THR payment would be processed on the same day.

“The THR for civil servants will be realised today, Tuesday, 17 March 2026, to civil servants in the North Tapanuli Regency administration. The number of eligible employees is 7,351 persons with a total budget of Rp30,472,275,098,” he said via message to journalists on Tuesday, 17 March at 09:18 Western Indonesian Time.
