Holdups on Jl. Gatot Subroto

The frequency of holdups in the vicinity of the pedestrian
flyover bridge in front of the Indonesian Red Cross and the
Manpower Ministry on Jl. Gatot Subroto is strongly on the
increase. There was even a case of rape of a woman holdup victim
a few weeks ago.

The situation in the area is even more dangerous during
holidays and in the evenings.

I appeal to the related security agencies to take the
necessary steps for ensuring safety in the area and to the
Jakarta city administration to provide adequate street
illumination.
