Holding Technical Guidance in Batam, Golkar: Building Strength at the Legislative Level
The Golkar Party has held a Technical Coordination Meeting (Rakornis) and Technical Guidance (Bimtek) for Golkar Faction members of Provincial and Regency/City DPRD across Northern Sumatra in Batam, Riau Islands. This move represents a new strategy for Golkar to strengthen party consolidation down to the regional level.
The Secretary-General of the Golkar Party Central Executive Board (DPP), Muhammad Sarmuji, stated that conducting these technical guidance sessions by region, rather than centralising them in Jakarta as previously done, aims to allow the party to more accurately absorb the aspirations and real problems of people in the regions.
“If guidance is held in Jakarta, there is naturally a bias towards national issues only. However, if technical guidance is held directly in the regions, we become more focused on mapping existing problems and finding concrete solutions to address the needs of the community,” Sarmuji said in a written statement, quoted on Sunday, 20 September 2026.
The Chairman of the Golkar Party Faction in the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) emphasised that this technical guidance session brings two vital agendas for the future of the party and the nation.
“First, we are obliged to fulfil the mandate of the National Congress (Munas) by successfully overseeing and winning the government’s agenda. All faction members, from the central to the regional level, are instructed to socialise and secure all government work programmes so that they can truly be felt by the community at the grassroots level,” Sarmuji asserted.
Sarmuji added that the second focus of this technical guidance agenda is to strengthen internal consolidation to boost Golkar Party’s vote share in the upcoming 2029 General Election.
“The second goal is to build shared commitment and strength across all legislative levels, from Provincial DPRD to Regency/City DPRD, in order to significantly increase Golkar’s seat share in the 2021 Election,” he added.
Through this regional cluster-based approach, the Golkar Party is optimistic that it can devise targeted political strategies while simultaneously supporting the success of strategic government programmes in the regions.
