Jakarta, VIVA – The President Director and CEO of PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk (BNBR), Anindya Bakrie, has stated that his company plans to expand its business into the technology sector. He made this announcement during the inauguration of the electric commercial vehicle assembly plant owned by PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas Tbk (VKTR) in Magelang, Central Java, by President Prabowo Subianto. “Finally, Sir, we also want to become a technology company. At present, we already have 14 copyrights, Sir, in collaboration with several universities in Indonesia,” Anindya said, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel on Thursday, 9 April 2026. “One of them is for retrofitting, not just from new to electric vehicle, but from petrol to electric,” he added. Retrofit is the process of installing new technology, components, or features on existing (old) buildings, machines, or systems to improve performance, energy efficiency, safety, or sustainability. Therefore, Anindya requested regulatory support and government regulations to ensure that the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) requirements are continuously enforced, and to open opportunities for his company to collaborate with several state-owned enterprises (BUMN) regarding this matter. “I think that’s it, Sir, we request guidance and support. Hopefully, our hope is that we can get support so that government regulations and policies can encourage the enforcement of this Domestic Content Level,” Anindya said. “And also provide opportunities to collaborate with companies, both private and BUMN,” he added.
