“Hold Hope!” Campaign Distributes Basic Food Packages to Tangerang Residents
Members of the Church of God World Mission Association distributed aid packages of basic foodstuffs to underprivileged residents in Kelapa Dua Subdistrict, Tangerang Regency, on Sunday (30/3). This activity is part of the “Hold Hope!” campaign to spread support for communities impacted by economic difficulties.
The distribution of aid was carried out directly at the Kelapa Dua Subdistrict Office, handing over 30 packages of basic foodstuffs containing rice, cooking oil, sugar, and instant noodles. The aid was intended for residents in need, including elderly individuals living alone and single-parent families.
A representative of the Church of God World Mission Association stated that the activity aims to assist communities facing economic pressures and the impacts of the global crisis.
“This campaign aims to share hope with underprivileged communities as well as small-scale food producers who are facing difficulties due to climate crises, economic hardships, and disease outbreaks,” he said.
He added that the aid was prepared collaboratively by the members in the hope of providing encouragement to the recipients.
“We hope that our neighbours can gain strength and courage through this warm support,” he said.
The Acting Head of Kelapa Dua Subdistrict, Wakirin, appreciated the aid given to his residents.
“We greatly appreciate the attention from the Church of God World Mission Association for helping our residents. This aid is very beneficial,” he said.
One of the volunteers, Tetty Sidabutar (42), said that the aid provided is hoped to alleviate the burden on the community while also offering moral support.
“Do not look at its value, but see its sincerity. These basic foodstuffs are here to bring smiles to families at home,” she said.
Another volunteer, Anita Wisnu Wijaya (34), admitted that the activity provided a valuable experience.
“I am very pleased to be able to share happiness today. May this aid become encouragement for us all to continue sharing,” she said.
Previously, a similar activity was also carried out in Petisah Subdistrict, Medan City, on 16 March.
The “Hold Hope!” campaign is part of the Church of God’s global initiative to help communities facing various crises, including poverty and hunger. To date, aid has been distributed to around 22,000 households in 48 countries.
In addition to distributing basic food packages, the organisation is also active in various social activities in Indonesia, such as environmental clean-ups, humanitarian aid, and blood donations.
