Hoegeng Awards 2026 Expert Council: Innovative Police Must Deliver Real Impact
Gufron Mabruri, a member of the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) and a member of the Hoegeng Awards 2026 Expert Council, stated that selecting the ‘Innovative Police’ figure is a challenging task. He noted that many police officers have introduced innovations in public services.
“It is not easy to choose one from thousands of innovative police officers, as they are all excellent and impressive; the Expert Council team engaged in lengthy discussions,” said Gufron during the Hoegeng Awards 2026 peak event at The Tribrata Darmawangsa in South Jakarta on Friday (31/7/2026).
Gufron Mabruri explained that the innovation being assessed is not merely about something new. Instead, innovation must be impactful and capable of being replicated elsewhere.
“The innovation we evaluate is not just something new, but innovation that truly has an impact, is sustainable, can be replicated in other locations, and certainly strengthens the Indonesian National Police’s public services within the community. Furthermore, there must be recognition from the surrounding community,” Gufron stated.
He added that an ‘Innovative Police’ figure is an officer who does more than just perform their duties. He remarked that innovative officers bring about change through ideas and concrete actions that provide real benefits to society through their impactful services.
The Hoegeng Awards 2026 category for Innovative Police was won by Brigadier Renita Rismayanti, a member of the Indonesian National Police International Relations Division. While serving in the Central African Republic as part of the MINUSCA mission during 2023-2024, Brigadier Renita performed a migration of UN Police criminal data, earning recognition from the United Nations. Serving as a Crime Database Officer, she also migrated criminal data for the Central African police force, addressing the issue of many criminals remaining unrecorded and at large. Due to these innovations, Renita received the Women Police of The Year 2023 award, making her the first Indonesian female police officer to receive such an honour.
