Hobiholidays Opens Indonesia's First Tour Leader School
PT Hobiholidays Nusantara Wisata has launched Indonesia’s first professional tour leader training programme to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in the tourism sector.
CEO Widyo Dedy Nugroho unveiled the Tour Leader Academy as an initiative offering a comprehensive curriculum combining theory and practical fieldwork. “We are seeing a very positive trend. Many participants come not only with dreams of travelling, but with serious intention to make tour leader a profession,” Widyo stated.
The company developed the programme after observing a marked increase in public interest in the tour leader profession, which is increasingly viewed as a primary career option rather than merely a supplementary job. This enthusiasm is evidenced by the inaugural batch filling completely within a short timeframe.
General Manager Wilson H. Malau, who oversees the Tour Leader Academy, explained that the 100-hour learning programme equips participants with the technical and non-technical skills required in the field. The curriculum encompasses leadership and group management, travel schedule management, problem-solving strategies during tours, communication and public speaking skills, and content creation techniques.
Participants will undergo simulations of real-world field conditions to develop readiness before leading actual tours. The programme operates within Hobiholidays’ professional travel ecosystem, with instructors drawn from competent industry practitioners.
“With 100 hours of both theoretical and practical learning, we hope graduates will be absorbed into the tour travel industry, with our best graduates being offered contracts with Hobiholidays,” Wilson said.
