A YouTube video claiming to show an earthquake and tsunami in Bali on 14 July 2026 has been confirmed as a hoax. The video, which had been viewed 3,674 times, was titled ‘JUST NOW BALI EARTHQUAKE & TSUNAMI 14/7/2026! DEVASTATING BALI EARTHQUAKE TODAY! SEAWATER RISES IN BALI’.

The official social media account of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in Bali reported that two minor earthquakes did occur on 14 July 2026, but neither triggered a tsunami. Further investigation revealed the video was a compilation of unrelated past events. Footage shown in the fifth minute of the video, depicting tourists being hit by a large wave, was actually from an incident in Nusa Penida, Bali, in 2022. Another clip showing people fleeing a shopping centre was from an earthquake in Medan, North Sumatra, on 11 May 2025. The content is therefore classified as misleading information or a hoax.
