A video post on Facebook depicts Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara speaking in front of several journalists. The video, which lasts approximately 15 seconds, falsely suggests that Suahasil is announcing a government aid package of Rp10 billion for the public. The post also instructs citizens interested in receiving the aid to register by stating their age and region of origin.

The transcript of Suahasil in the post reads: “Assalamualaikum wr wb. I am Suahasil Nazara, the new Finance Minister of Indonesia. An announcement for the Indonesian people: please register yourselves immediately, stating your age and region of origin. Today, 21 September, we will register the files we receive.”

Based on investigations, the video has been manipulated using Artificial Intelligence (AI). While the image of Suahasil Nazara is sourced from authentic ANTARA news footage, the voice heard in the video is not her actual statement. ANTARA found similar footage in a report titled “Finance Minister Suahising will deepen reforms in the Directorate General of Customs and Excise” published on 14 September 2026.

In the original report, Suahasil was providing a statement to journalists following her appointment as Finance Minister. She discussed plans to further examine reforms within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise previously initiated by Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.
