Hoax! Sony Sanjaya claims President Prabowo ordered MBG corruption

A social media post on Facebook has falsely claimed that former Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sony Sonjaya, revealed President Prabowo Subianto ordered him to commit corruption in the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme. The post featured a photo of Sony Sonjaya wearing a prosecutor’s office detainee vest, accompanied by a narrative stating he felt he was being made a scapegoat after being named a suspect in a corruption case at BGN. The post’s narrative read: ‘Prabowo who ordered me to commit corruption to be shared out, I feel I am being made a scapegoat by Prabowo.’ It was also accompanied by additional inflammatory political commentary. However, based on investigation, no official statement from Sony Sonjaya, his legal counsel, or any examination document mentions that President Prabowo Subianto ordered him to commit corruption in the MBG programme. The photo used was documentation of Sony Sonjaya undergoing legal proceedings after being named a suspect in a case of alleged governance corruption in the MBG programme. In its original context, no such statement as included in the post exists. In fact, Sony Sonjaya’s lawyer, Krisna Mukti, explained that his client has applied to become a justice collaborator with the Attorney General’s Office. The request was made because Sony wishes to help reveal the case clearly and provide information about other parties suspected of involvement. The lawyer’s statement made no mention of any order to commit corruption from President Prabowo. Furthermore, there is no official information from the Attorney General’s Office or other credible sources stating that Sony Sonjaya accused President Prabowo of involvement or of ordering corruption in the MBG programme. Thus, the claim that Sony Sonjaya admitted he was ordered by President Prabowo to commit corruption in the MBG programme is false information or a hoax.
