Hoax! SBY and AHY Demand Replacement of Free Nutritious Meals with Free Education up to Undergraduate Level
Jakarta – A post on the Facebook social media platform features a photo of Indonesia’s sixth president, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), alongside Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY). The post claims that both individuals have expressed agreement to abolish the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme and replace it with free education up to the undergraduate level. The narrative in the post reads: “Do you agree that MBG should be abolished, and education made free up to undergraduate level?” However, is it true that SBY and AHY made such a statement? Explanation: Based on investigations, no official statements or credible media reports have been found confirming that SBY and AHY ever made this assertion. An examination using the AI Detector Hive Moderation tool indicates that the image in the post has a 99.9 per cent likelihood of being generated by artificial intelligence (AI). Furthermore, the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme is still running in various regions to date. According to ANTARA, Chairman of DPR RI Commission XI, Mukhamad Misbakhun, has described the programme as a form of government support for the public and a long-term investment to enhance the quality of the younger generation. Therefore, the claim that SBY and AHY agree to replace the MBG programme with free education up to undergraduate level is untrue or a hoax.
