Hoax! Prabowo Will Not Halt Free Nutritious Meal Programme After Eid al-Fitr

Jakarta – A post circulating on Facebook featured a photograph of President Prabowo Subianto accompanied by a narrative claiming that the Free Nutritious Meal Programme (MBG) will be discontinued after Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

The post alleged that President Prabowo would formally halt the MBG programme following the Eid celebrations, with the accompanying text stating: “President Prabowo will officially stop nutritious food/MBG after Eid al-Fitr.”

However, is it true that Prabowo will discontinue the MBG after Eid?

Clarification:

The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has denied claims that the MBG programme will be terminated after Eid al-Fitr following instructions from President Prabowo Subianto. The BGN has assured the public that the national nutrition improvement programme will continue operating and will even expand its reach.

“The MBG programme will continue after Eid. There are no plans to halt it as being circulated,” stated Dadan, the head of the BGN.

Dadan Hindayana affirmed that the government has never issued any policy or directive to discontinue the MBG programme following Eid al-Fitr. He also emphasised that information circulating on various digital platforms does not originate from official government statements.

According to Dadan, after Eid al-Fitr, the MBG programme will enter an expansion phase. The government is targeting an increase in the number of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) to reach approximately 25,000 units distributed across various regions throughout Indonesia.

Therefore, the claim that President Prabowo will halt the Free Nutritious Meal Programme after Eid al-Fitr is false information or a hoax.
