Hoax: Prabowo threatened resignation over MBG programme halt
A social media post on Facebook claimed that President Prabowo Subianto threatened to resign if the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme was halted. The post alleged that Prabowo would not continue his leadership if public opposition led to the programme’s termination. The post stated: ‘Prabowo threatens to resign as president if Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme is stopped’. However, did President Prabowo Subianto really threaten to resign if the MBG programme was halted? Investigation reveals no official statements from the government or credible media sources confirming such a threat. According to ANTARA, President Prabowo instead ordered the National Nutrition Agency to regulate the Nutrition Service Units (SPPG) implementing the MBG programme in violation of technical guidelines and standard operating procedures. This action demonstrates the government’s commitment to continue and professionally improve the MBG programme, rather than threatening resignation if it were halted. Therefore, the claim that President Prabowo Subianto threatened to resign over the MBG programme is false and constitutes a hoax.
