Hoax! Photo of Prabowo and Trump displaying pork products

A social media post on Facebook has circulated showing a photograph allegedly depicting Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and US President Donald Trump displaying pork meat and processed meat products. The post claimed that both leaders were holding canned pork and spam, and attempted to connect the image to a statement from the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) urging the public not to consume haram (forbidden) food.

However, investigation has revealed no official government photographs or statements confirming that President Prabowo and President Trump posed together displaying pork products. The photograph in question actually originates from documentation of a trade agreement signing ceremony between Indonesia and the United States held in Washington, D.C., on 19 February 2026. In the original documentation, President Prabowo and President Trump are not displaying any food products; they are simply holding the signed trade agreement document.

The trade agreement document contained provisions regarding the import of beef, poultry, and certain other processed products—not pork imports, as claimed in the social media post. Additionally, analysis using AI detection tools from Sightengine indicated an 84 per cent probability that the photograph was artificially generated using artificial intelligence.

The claim that President Prabowo Subianto and President Donald Trump photographed themselves displaying pork products has been conclusively determined to be false information or a hoax.
