Hoax: Pertamina Removes Pertalite Fuel

A post on social media platform X claimed that subsidised Pertalite fuel has been removed from Pertamina filling stations. The narrative emerged after reports of Pertalite shortages at a particular station, forcing some motorists to purchase Pertamax instead. The post also alleged that ‘Pertalite’ signage at stations had been removed as a sign the fuel was no longer sold. However, no official information or announcement was found stating that PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has removed or halted the distribution of subsidised Pertalite fuel. Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Roberth MV Dumatubun, confirmed that Pertalite stocks are available and distribution to all filling stations continues as normal, in accordance with government assignments. He added that Pertamina Patra Niaga continuously monitors stock levels and fuel distribution in real time across all regions to ensure public needs are met. The company is also optimising its energy supply chain management through terminal infrastructure, distributors, delivery fleets, and integrated monitoring systems throughout Indonesia. The fact that Pertalite shortages occurred at certain stations cannot be used as a basis to claim the fuel has been removed nationally. Pertamina continues to distribute Pertalite in compliance with prevailing regulations. The claim that Pertamina has removed Pertalite is false and classified as a hoax.
