Hoax! National Nutrition Agency Has Not Ordered 700 Million Eggs from China for Free Nutritious Meal Programme

A Facebook user recently shared information claiming that the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has ordered 700 million eggs from China to support the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme, which commenced in Indonesia on 6 January 2025. The post further alleged that this massive import was funded by the State Budget (APBN).

The post, which included a photo of a meeting at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) attended by Chairman Anindya Bakrie, asked for public reactions to the news.

However, verification by Antara confirms that the narrative regarding the order of hundreds of millions of eggs from China for the MBG programme is a hoax. There is no official data or information supporting such a policy.

Furthermore, Presidential Regulation Number 115 of 2025, Article 38, Paragraph 1, explicitly stipulates that the implementation of the MBG programme must prioritise the use of domestic products and mandate the involvement of micro-enterprises, small businesses, cooperatives, and local communities.

The image of the Kadin meeting used in the Facebook post was actually taken from a different news report by idxchannel. The original article, titled “MBG Needs 700 Million Eggs per Year, KADIN Engages Chinese Entrepreneurs to Build Poultry Industry,” was published on 21 April 2026, and discussed industrial development rather than an existing order of imported eggs.
