Hoax! Elon Musk to foot MBG budget

Jakarta (ANTARA/JACX) – An Instagram post claims that the founder of Tesla Motors, SpaceX and Paypal, Elon Musk, will bear the entire budget for Indonesia’s Free Nutritious Meals Program (MBG).

The post states the billionaire pledged to help President Prabowo Subianto by covering all MBG costs.

Here is the narration in the post:

“Viral!! Elon Musk promised to help Prabowo cover MBG funds, Elon Musk ‘instead of using the state budget funds, let me cover them all’ said the richest person in the world.”

But is it true that Elon Musk will bear all MBG budgets?

Explanation:

Based on the investigation, the image used in the post is identical to this article published on 6 December 2025 which discussed Elon Musk’s X platform being fined 120 million euros (about Rp2.32 trillion) for violating EU regulations through the Digital Services Act (DSA).

The article did not contain any statement by Elon Musk regarding financing the MBG program in Indonesia.

To date there is also no official statement from Elon Musk or the Indonesian government on the matter.

Therefore, the narrative claiming Elon Musk will fund the entire MBG program is false information or a hoax.
