Hoax Circulates About Remote Learning Due to Jakarta Protest, Education Agency Confirms It Is Fake

A circular letter claiming that distance learning (PJJ) would be implemented in Jakarta schools due to planned demonstrations has been confirmed as a hoax by the Jakarta Education Agency (Disdik DKI).

Disdik DKI stressed that the letter circulating with number 26/SE/2026 regarding the Implementation of Learning due to Demonstrations at Educational Units within the DKI Jakarta Province is a fake document.

The confirmation was conveyed through Disdik DKI’s official Instagram account. The circulating letter was dated 26 August 2026 and appeared to be an official notice regarding the implementation of PJJ in Jakarta.

Disdik DKI urged the public not to immediately believe information circulating on social media, especially letters claiming to be from government agencies.

In its post, Disdik DKI warned the public to be cautious about such information.

Disdik DKI stated that the circular letter was fake or untrue. The public was also asked to verify information regarding learning activities through official government channels.

As of Wednesday afternoon, there had been no official appeal from Disdik DKI regarding the general implementation of PJJ due to demonstrations.

Therefore, the public, especially parents and students, need to distinguish between official letters from the regional government and notices issued by individual schools.

Although the letter claiming to be from Disdik DKI was declared fake, some schools did send PJJ notices to their students.

One such case was experienced by Nita, a resident of North Jakarta. Her two daughters, who attend a private kindergarten and primary school in North Jakarta, received a circular from the school regarding the implementation of distance learning.

In the letter provided by the school, PJJ was scheduled to take place for two days, namely Thursday, 27 August to Friday, 28 August 2026.

Students were then scheduled to return to normal learning on Monday, 31 August 2026.

This situation shows that a PJJ notice from a particular school does not automatically mean there is a PJJ policy from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government or Disdik DKI.

The circulation of the fake letter emerged ahead of planned demonstrations in Jakarta.
