Hanoi (ANTARA) - Ho Chi Minh City, the economic hub of southern Vietnam, is targeted to develop into a global, smart, and modern metropolis with comprehensive development on par with the world’s leading cities by 2075, according to local newspaper VnExpress on Tuesday. The vision is outlined in a resolution on city development and expansion, recently published by the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam. 2075 will mark the 100th anniversary of the liberation of southern Vietnam and national reunification. Under the resolution, the city also aims to achieve green and sustainable growth and enhance climate resilience by 2075. From 2046 to 2075, the southern metropolis is projected to maintain an annual gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth rate of at least 6 per cent. Ho Chi Minh City aims for a GRDP per capita of at least $100,000 (US$1 = Rp17,743) by 2075, according to the report.
