HNW: Pancasila Proven to Enable Indonesia to Face Domestic and Global Crises
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) RI, Hidayat Nur Wahid (HNW), stated that the implementation of the state ideology and foundation, Pancasila, has proven to enable Indonesia to confront various crises, both domestic and global.
Therefore, HNW said that the potential crisis arising from the war between the United States-Israel and Iran is not a new threat to Indonesia and can be navigated well if Pancasila is truly implemented.
“The existence of Pancasila as the nation’s foundation and ideology has kept Indonesia intact and spared it from division multiple times,” said HNW in a statement received in Jakarta on Monday.
Indonesia, he added, is an archipelagic nation with diverse religions, races, ethnicities, cultures, and languages. However, because the nation’s figures agreed to recognise Pancasila, this nation has been saved from disputes and divisions.
According to him, the agreement on the birth of Pancasila has further enabled the Indonesian nation to face various crises, whether from within or outside. Even though crises will continue to occur, he believes Indonesia will remain enduring.
“If we do not have an ideology that grows and develops from Indonesia itself, then cases like the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia could happen,” he said, recalling the story of a nation’s collapse.
He stated that Indonesia can remain strong to this day because it has an ideology that unites society despite existing differences.
“This ideology grows from within, excavated collectively by the nation’s components, including national figures from nationalist organisations, parties, or professions, but also involving Islamic leaders from the backgrounds of mass organisations or political organisations,” he said.
This nation has experienced various crises, from economic, political, confidence, ideological crises, rebellions, to global crises. However, the crises that struck were successfully resolved well, thanks to the implementation of Pancasila.
The success of Pancasila in securing the unity of Indonesia, said HNW, has been ongoing for more than 80 years. During that time, Pancasila has made the Indonesian nation resilient against various problems and crises.
Therefore, HNW invites all Indonesians to continue safeguarding Pancasila by applying all its principles in daily life and policies.
