HNW: Indonesia's Resilience Determined by Grassroots Community Contributions
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Speaker of the MPR RI Hidayat Nur Wahid (HNW) stated that strengthening Indonesia’s resilience is greatly determined by the contributions of grassroots communities, both through social-religious activities and community empowerment.
“National resilience needs to be appreciated when built from the bottom up, from the people. When citizens are empowered and productive, Indonesia becomes stronger,” said HNW in a statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday.
As a form of appreciation for the contributions of grassroots communities, HNW presented awards to various community elements in his electoral district (Dapil) Jakarta II.
The HNW Award was given to several categories, including exemplary PPSU, exemplary Jumatik, exemplary Dasawisma, exemplary online drivers, productive ngaji teachers, productive majelis taklim, and productive PKS cadres.
HNW described the awards as a realisation of public aspirations and a form of appreciation for citizens who are active in their communities and make real contributions in their respective environments.
Even though these citizens do not appear in the media or go viral, he said, their work is genuinely felt by the local community.
“These community contributions are very positive and embody the theme of the 24th PKS Anniversary, namely together with the people, and our activities can strengthen Indonesia’s resilience,” he stated.
He gave the example of Ustadz Abdul Muhith, a recipient of the HNW Award, who is active in teaching at 14 majelis taklim in the Kemayoran area, Central Jakarta.
“His active role certainly has a positive impact on the spiritual and social resilience of the environment in that area,” he remarked.
In the Exemplary Jumatik category, the award went to Nurhasanah, who, along with other jumantik cadres, succeeded in maintaining the physical health of residents, resulting in no dengue fever cases found throughout 2026 in her RW neighbourhood.
HNW hopes that the awards will serve as motivation for the community to continue contributing and providing solutions with their respective capacities.
“We are also continuously striving to create a policy ecosystem at the governmental level that supports these community contributions. May the 24th PKS Anniversary become a momentum for strengthening the understanding that consistent contributions can be delivered by anyone, whether officials or the people, including in their collaboration with people’s representatives and their parties,” said HNW.
