HMI West Java Regional Chair Receives Terror Threats After Speaking Out on Andrie Yunus Case, Starting with Mentions of Her Mother

BANDUNG – Chair of HMI’s West Java Regional Board, Siti Nurhayati Barsasmy, received terror threat messages from unknown persons after voicing concerns over the acid splashing case involving victim Kontras activist Andrie Yunus. She claims many parties are willing to assist her. “I was asked to stay silent, even my mother’s position was mentioned. They threatened that if I do not delete the photo or video, I will suffer the same fate as Bang Andri,” she said recently to reporters. She continued that terror threats were also sent to HMI West Java Regional Board’s Instagram via direct messages. Even, the unknown person threatened to destroy the organisation. “There are two accounts in the comment section of my Instagram video writing narratives asking for the video to be deleted with threats that the organisation will be destroyed,” she said. After receiving the terror threats, she admitted to visiting Garut Police Resort to request protection. The police apparatus checked and ensured her condition remains safe. “I have not made an official report yet. I chose to go directly to the media because I want to focus on monitoring this case,” she said. In the future, she claims she will coordinate with witness and victim protection institutions as well as Commission III.
