The Indonesian Industrial Estates Association (HKI) is confident that the development of the Wiraraja Madura Industrial Estate in Bangkalan Regency, East Java, will create a new economic growth centre while strengthening the region’s investment appeal.

HKI Chairman Akhmad Ma’ruf Maulana said the development of a large-scale integrated industrial estate on Madura Island is part of efforts to build a new economic growth centre in East Java.

“The estate is designed to support the development of the manufacturing, warehousing, and environmentally friendly energy sectors, while also serving as a new investment magnet that strengthens East Java’s position as the economic and investment gateway to eastern Indonesia,” Ma’ruf said in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday.

Akhmad Ma’ruf said the collaboration between Wiraraja Madura Industrial Estate and Guangdong (Fenyong) ASEAN Industrial Park will open broader opportunities for Chinese companies to expand into Indonesia, particularly East Java and Madura.

The partnership is expected to encourage technology transfer, enhance industrial capacity, create jobs, and boost economic growth in both countries. The industrial estate is also designed as a modern area supporting manufacturing investment, logistics, downstream processing, and various other strategic sectors.

The development of the Wiraraja Madura Industrial Estate is part of strengthening Indonesia-China economic cooperation through integrated industrial estate development. Under this cooperation, a number of Chinese industrial clusters are planned to enter the estate, ranging from chocolate, mattress, textile, and yarn industries to other labour-intensive manufacturing sectors.
