The trend of supply chain diversification by international companies must be met with the readiness of competitive industrial zones.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Industrial Estates Association (HKI) views the government’s establishment of the Debottlenecking Task Force as a strategic step to promote the optimisation of industrial zones’ roles amid increasingly complex global pressures and dynamics.

In an official statement confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday, HKI General Chairman Akhmad Ma’ruf Maulana expressed appreciation and full support for President Prabowo Subianto’s policy, which is seen as capable of overcoming various investment obstacles while accelerating the realisation of domestic capital investment.

This step is regarded by the association as a crucial breakthrough, particularly in addressing classic challenges faced by business actors, from administrative delays to practices that harm investors.

The presence of this task force, he said, is expected to serve as a catalyst in creating a more efficient, transparent, and competitive investment ecosystem.

Furthermore, amid global uncertainties, including geopolitical conflicts and a slowing world economy, HKI sees these conditions as opportunities to attract global industrial relocation.

This momentum is deemed important for strengthening the competitiveness of national industrial zones to better capture shifts in supply chains.

HKI stresses that the trend of supply chain diversification undertaken by many international companies must be responded to with the readiness of competitive industrial zones, encompassing adequate infrastructure support, regulatory certainty, and fast and efficient licensing processes.

Nevertheless, HKI reminds that there are still several obstacles at the regional level that need to be addressed immediately, such as convoluted permitting, lack of synchronisation between agencies, spatial planning uncertainties, and practices that harm investors.

Ma’ruf also emphasised the need for a change in mindset in facing global uncertainties to be more proactive and adaptive.

“The key is execution speed, regulatory certainty, and the courage to resolve field obstacles, especially in the regions. If this can be done consistently, Indonesia has great potential to become the main destination for global industrial relocation,” he said.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that the government has formed the Debottlenecking Task Force to specifically resolve various obstacles faced by the business world in Indonesia.

That statement was delivered by Airlangga during a meeting with United States (US) investors on the sidelines of his working visit to Washington DC. The dialogue took place with the United States-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) on Monday (22/12/2025) local time.
