HKA accelerates utilisation of Buton asphalt for national infrastructure
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Hakaaston (HKA), a subsidiary of PT Hutama Karya (Persero), is accelerating the utilisation of Buton asphalt (asbuton) as part of efforts to strengthen national infrastructure resilience. Acting President Director of PT Hakaaston, M. Rozi Rinjayadi, emphasised that strengthening asbuton requires involvement from all stakeholders. “Strengthening asbuton cannot proceed in isolation. Cross-ecosystem collaboration is needed, involving regulators, industry, and practitioners to ensure this material can be utilised widely and measurably in national infrastructure development,” said M. Rozi Rinjayadi in his statement in Jakarta on Thursday. This initiative represents a strategic step to reduce dependence on imported asphalt amid global uncertainties. The effort is reinforced through collaboration with domestic asphalt industry players, focusing on the utilisation of full extracted natural asphalt capable of meeting high-standard road paving needs. This approach not only emphasises material quality but also more targeted optimisation of domestic resources. As part of the company’s ecosystem that manages infrastructure end-to-end from planning to operations and maintenance, the company plays a role in ensuring that every material initiative is integrated with long-term asset management needs. This aligns with the transformation towards Indonesia’s Most Valuable Infrastructure Asset Management (IM-V-IAM), where the focus is not only on maintaining road conditions but also on enhancing the overall value and reliability of assets. In this regard, the HK Group is ready to strengthen this role, both through integration in toll road management and support for the development of standards and field implementation. This approach is executed with disciplined work principles, oriented towards road user services, and prioritising safety as the utmost concern. In addition to strengthening infrastructure resilience, the utilisation of domestic materials is expected to provide long-term cost efficiencies and increase the overall value of infrastructure assets. Through this step, HKA along with the HK Group continues to drive a shift in approach from dependence on global markets towards more managed utilisation of national resources. This initiative aligns with the company’s commitment to delivering Innovation for Solutions in Indonesian infrastructure management.
