HK jails woman for abusing RI maid
HONG KONG (AFP): A Hong Kong housewife was sentenced to three
and half years jail on Tuesday for violently and "cold-bloodedly"
repeatedly assaulting her Indonesian maid.
In sentencing, Judge Law said the actions of defendant Leung
Yee-Kwan, 28, were "outrageous and cold-blooded" as well as
"premeditated with malice".
The court was told that over several months Leung assaulted
Rusmini Gunung leading in October to a ruptured liver and a
fractured rib. Gunung later collapsed on a train and was taken to
hospital.
Leung visited Gunung in hospital and threatened that if she
informed the authorities about her beating, her children in
Indonesia would be killed.
