A Hong Kong Red Cross aid worker, shot while serving in Indonesia's tsunami-ravaged Aceh province, returned home on Tuesday to continue her recovery at a local hospital.
Eva Yeung (center on a stretcher) said after arriving from Singapore that she enjoyed working in Aceh and the aid mission there must continue.
"I was very happy working there. I also believe that humanitarian work there must carry on," she told reporters from a stretcher.
Yeung appeared in good spirits. "Her condition is very good," Hong Kong Red Cross spokeswoman Almen Chui said.
Rebels and government forces have blamed each other for the attack last Wednesday on Yeung's Red Cross vehicle. About 12,000 people have died in separatist fighting in Aceh since 1976.
After the shooting, Yeung was evacuated to Singapore, where surgeons removed bullet fragments from her neck.
She was the first foreigner shot in Aceh since the province was devastated by the Dec. 26 earthquake and the massive tsunami it triggered.
