Hizbullah Launches Counter-Attack After Halting IDF Advance as Sirens Wail Across Northern Israel
BEIRUT — Lebanon’s Islamic resistance group Hizbullah announced that its fighters have continued to halt the advance of Israeli military forces in several towns in the Nabatieh Governorate of southern Lebanon. Key battlegrounds include Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, Yohmor al-Shaqif, and Dibbine.
Hizbullah stated that fierce combat against Israeli occupation forces began on Tuesday morning. According to Hizbullah’s claims, the occupying forces have so far failed to seize the three towns, forcing them to remain on the outskirts.
In defensive operations, Hizbullah fighters employed layered tactics using various weaponry, including anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs), Ababil-type FPV drones, artillery, and rocket attacks. In Dibbine, Hizbullah forces reportedly successfully ambushed Israeli troops in a direct encirclement operation.
The resistance group claimed the operation inflicted significant casualties on the Israeli military and destroyed several armoured vehicles.
Meanwhile, on the eastern outskirts of al-Ghandouriyeh in the Bint Jbeil district, Hizbullah fighters detonated improvised explosive devices (IEDs) targeting Israeli armoured convoys.
The ambush was followed by artillery and rocket fire on Israeli positions, prompting the Israeli military to respond with airstrikes to secure the withdrawal of its trapped forces.
