This development is considered to be starting to affect the course of ground operations and disrupt the movement of Israeli forces in the battlefield. Reports from a number of Israeli media outlets reveal that the military is conducting an investigation to understand how Hizbollah’s drones managed to reach its forces’ positions at night. This investigation was carried out after a series of attacks in recent days that killed and injured a number of Israeli soldiers. According to Al Jazeera’s correspondent in Palestine, Muhammad Khairi, quoted on Thursday (June 4, 2026), attention to the threat emerged after the Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) acknowledged that Hizbollah’s drones are now a major challenge for the Israeli military in the ongoing fighting in southern Lebanon. Israeli sources say that in recent times, Hizbollah has increased the use of drones at night. These drones are supported by operational capabilities that allow them to move towards targets with a high degree of accuracy, even in complex terrain conditions. According to Khairi, this refers to drones connected with fiber optic cables.
