HIV/AIDS Cases in Lebak Reach 85, Three Deaths Reported
The number of positive HIV/AIDS cases in Lebak Regency has reached 85 in 2026. Of this total, 17 individuals belong to the LGBT community.
“From the 85 HIV/AIDS cases in Lebak, 17 of them are LGBT,” said Nining Tilawah, Head of the Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) Division of the Lebak Health Office, to reporters on Tuesday (29/09/2026).
Nining explained several factors contributing to the spread of the disease, ranging from high community mobility to low awareness regarding safe sexual behaviour. She stated that the Lebak Regency Government will prepare voluntary counselling and testing (VCT) services in several locations deemed vulnerable to transmission.
“As a preventive measure, we continue to communicate with various relevant parties to aggressively carry out counselling on the dangers of HIV/AIDS, especially for students and the younger generation,” said Nining.
Nining revealed that three people have been reported to have died this year. This figure has become a serious concern for the Lebak Health Office.
“From the 85 HIV/AIDS cases found throughout 2026, three sufferers have been reported to have passed away,” she said.
Nining continued, noting that the Lebak Health Office has provided antiretroviral (ARV) medication to patients. According to her, the availability of this medication is supported by the Ministry of Health.
“Patients must also be punctual in consuming Anti-Retroviral (ARV) medication. Fortunately, our ARV supply is supported by the Ministry of Health,” she added.
