Hitachi Launches HMAX Energy, Offering AI Solutions to Protect Critical Energy Infrastructure

Jakarta – Hitachi Energy has launched HMAX Energy, a series of AI-based services and solutions aimed at protecting critical energy infrastructure while enabling operational efficiency.

Through trusted customer partnerships, HMAX Energy will optimise planning, prediction, and prevention to strengthen energy security and resilience.

Managing Director & BU Service Hitachi Energy, Wolf Mueller, stated that power grid infrastructure in most countries has exceeded its lifespan and was not designed to meet current electricity needs.

“This sector also faces major constraints, namely the supply chain for power grid equipment that is under heavy pressure,” said Mueller in his statement on Wednesday, 1 April 2026.

This situation underscores the need to increase availability and extend the lifespan of existing assets, making reliable partnerships increasingly crucial.

“Ageing power grids are currently under unprecedented pressure, compounded by the need to address multiple challenges simultaneously, such as rising energy demand, increasing complexity, supply chain constraints, and workforce shortages,” he said.

Because of this, Mueller emphasised that with HMAX Energy, the company will partner with customers to protect critical infrastructure, anticipate failures earlier, and maintain the reliability of electricity supply.

To meet these demands, Hitachi Energy has launched HMAX Energy as the latest addition to its HMAX AI solutions portfolio for social infrastructure. Hitachi’s HMAX solutions cover the Energy, Mobility, and Industry sectors, embodying the company’s Lumada 3.0 strategy.

“HMAX Energy combines deep expertise and leading AI capabilities across the value chain, covering key energy infrastructure equipment from products like switchgear and transformers to entire substations, as well as complex HVDC systems and power quality solutions,” he said.
