Hit-and-Run Involving Hyundai Ioniq Electric Car on Antasari Flyover, South Jakarta
Police are investigating a hit-and-run case involving a Hyundai Ioniq electric car with registration number B 1633 SNQ and another vehicle on the Antasari Non-Toll Flyover (JLNT) in South Jakarta. A public street lighting pole (PJU) was toppled as a result of the accident.
“The accident involved an Ioniq electric car with registration number B 1633 SNQ and another vehicle, which has not yet been identified, that left the scene, as well as a street lighting pole,” said South Jakarta Metro Police Public Relations Head AKP Joko Adi Wibowo on Monday (6/7), as quoted from Antara.
Joko stated the accident occurred on Jalan Sultan Hasanudin, precisely on the incline of the Antasari JLNT in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Monday (6/7) at 11:30 a.m. Western Indonesian Time.
He explained that preliminary investigations suggest the electric car driven by the perpetrator sideswiped a vehicle with an unknown registration number while on the flyover incline. The other vehicle is suspected to have been moving from the slow lane towards the JLNT.
“Subsequently, the Ioniq swerved to the right and struck the street lighting pole, resulting in a traffic accident that caused damage to the vehicle and the pole to collapse,” he said.
After the incident, one of the vehicles, whose registration number remains unknown, fled the scene. The accident case is now being handled by the Traffic Accident Unit of the South Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Division.
