Hit-and-Run Driver Who Killed Scout Leader in Tangerang Named as Suspect

A young man, ADH (21), suspected of involvement in a hit-and-run that killed Banten scout leader Herman Sulistyo (71), has been arrested and named as a suspect. The incident occurred on Jalan Raya Serang, kilometre 11, in Cikupa District, Tangerang Regency.

Tangerang Police Traffic Unit Chief AKP Fery Oktaviari stated that the suspect was arrested at his residence in Ciptagumati Village, Cikalongwetan District, Bandung Regency, West Java, on Thursday evening (11/6). ‘We managed to apprehend the suspected perpetrator who had fled at his home in Bandung,’ Fery said on Friday (12/6).

Fery explained that Ahmad Didin was the driver of a Mitsubishi Fuso truck with registration number D 8319 GL, which allegedly struck Herman, resulting in his death. After the incident, the perpetrator is believed to have left the scene without providing assistance to the victim. Although the suspect has been detained, police are still investigating the exact cause of the accident that led to the victim’s death.

In addition to arresting the suspect, police also seized the Mitsubishi Fuso truck believed to be involved in the accident as evidence. For his actions, Ahmad Didin is charged under Article 310 Paragraph (4) in conjunction with Article 312 and Article 106 Paragraph (2) of Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation. ‘The penalty is six years in prison and a maximum fine of Rp12 million,’ Fery said.

It is known that Scout leader Herman Sulistyo (71) died as a result of the hit-and-run on Jalan Raya Serang KM 11, near the Bitung Bridge, Bitung Jaya, Cikupa, Tangerang Regency, on Sunday (7/6). The hit-and-run occurred in the early hours of Sunday (7/6) around 1:00 a.m. local time. An unidentified truck allegedly struck the cyclist, causing serious injuries that led to his death at the scene.

For context, Herman Sulistyo was a prominent Scout leader in Greater Tangerang and Banten, widely recognised for his dedication to upholding true scouting values in daily life. He consistently wore a full Scout uniform on various occasions, both at formal events and in his everyday activities, and always cycled to attend scouting events.
